Alpine skiing

Enjoy our 36 alpine skiing slopes on the highest summits of the Vosges mountain range!

Markstein, Grand Ballon, Ballon d’Alsace, Frenz, Schlumpf and Thannerhubel ski resorts welcome downhill skiing enthusiasts, offering them a large choice of slopes. The Frenz slopes are especially suitable for beginners, Schlumpf and Thannerhubel are for more experienced skiers; and the biggest areas (Le Markstein, Grand Ballon and Ballon d’Alsace) offer slopes of all levels (from blue to black).

Practical information

All the resorts open according to the snow cover and weather conditions.

● Le Markstein : 
In Le Markstein, at 1260 m altitude, all snow sports can be practiced in the winter. There are 12 slopes there, from green to black, 8 ski lifts and a slalom stadium.
Winter resort open open every day from 09:00 to 17:00 - At nighttime on Tuesdays and Fridays from 18:00 to 22:00.

● Le Ballon d’Alsace :

● Le Grand Ballon : 

Culminating point of the Vosges Mountain Range at 1424 m, Le Grand-Ballon, with its 9 slopes where you can ski while enjoying an unspoilt view over the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and the Alps.
Winter resort open on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays and every day of the week during school holidays (Zone B) from 09:00 to 17:00.
No equipment to hire onsite except for snowshoes (nearest shops: Vallée de la Thur or Le Markstein resort)

● Le Frenz :
A beautiful small family resort at about 770 m altitude, where you can learn to ski far from the crowds of the big resorts! You can go nighttime skiing with a minimum of 15 people (by reservation) or you can even enjoy the pleasure of cross-country skiing or sledging.
Winter resort is open every day from 09:00 to 17:00 during school holidays, and on Saturdays and Sundays during term time.

● Le Schlumpf :
7 km away from Masevaux, this little resort at 675 m altitude, with its 2 ski lifts, is worth the trip for its alpine ski slopes that are among the longest in the Vosges!
Winter resort is open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 13:00 to 16:45 and weekends from 09:00 to 16:45. Open every day during school holidays (depending on snow cover).

● Le Thannerhubel :
Located on the tops of Bitschwiller-les-Thann, the only slope in this utterly charming small resort offers an unspoilt view over the Vosges and Alps. Nicknamed the little "Val d'Isère", this resort is perhaps the smallest in France.
Thannerhubel can only be accessed in the winter via Willer-sur-Thur (take the road behind the railway station and then follow the signs) to Tambourbrennale carpark. Finally, walk 10 minutes on foot.
Winter resort is open on Saturdays from 09:00 to 16:30, and Sundays and public holidays from 08:00 to 16:30.

Prices on Weekends, public holidays and school holidays:
- Full day: from €16.50 to €19.50
- Half-day: €14.50 to €17
Prices from Monday to Friday except for public holidays and school holidays:
- Day from €14.50 to €17.50
- Half-day: from €12.50 to €15
● Ballon d’Alsace:
Tarifs :
- Adult: between €16.50 and €18.50 for the day or between €14 and €15.50 for a ½ day
- Child: between €14 and €16 for the day or between €11 and €13.50 for a ½ day
● Grand Ballon:
