The wine-growers' route in Rangen starts close to the Tour des Sorcières (Witches' Tower) at the Southern entrance of the Route des Vins d’Alsace (Alsace wine route).
Les Bangards, former voluntary vine guards, had the task of watching over the vineyard, the town's source of prosperity. Follow the guide or the Bangard on his shift; he will introduce you to the special features of this natural environment and the eventful past that has marked its history over the centuries.
There are three separate routes, with 19 educational panels dotted along them:
- a short 2.2 km route - 40 mins there and back, which follows the cycling path and is accessible to people with reduced mobility,
- an intermediate 3 km route - 1 hour 45 mins there and back, 80 m of altitude difference, it criss-crosses Le Chemin Montaigne path.
- a long 5 km route - 2 hour 30 mins there and back, 180 m of altitude difference, more sporty, it passes by La Croix du Rangen (Rangen Cross). You can admire the view that opens out in front of you from above.
Wear good shoes for these walks.
Entry to the routes is free-of-charge all year round. Set off from Bungert square in Thann and follow the signs with the Bangard logo.
