The Grand Ballon

Highest point of the Vosges, the Grand Ballon dominates the Alsace plain from the top of its 1424 meters.

With an altitude of 1424 m, Le Grand Ballon (also called Ballon de Guebwiller) is the highest point of the Vosges mountains. Its summit is a 45-minute walk there and back from the Chalet Hôtel carpark on La Route des Crêtes (summit route).
From the top you have a panoramic view over the Alsace plain, the Jura and the Alps.
In winter you can go alpine skiing, Nordic skiing as well as cross-country skiing and in the summer there are many signposted paths awaiting you around Le Grand Ballon.
