In Franche Comté

From Belfort through the Jura mountains to Besançon, an authentic region to discover.

Adjacent to Alsace, the Franche-Comté contains the 4 départements (administrative districts) of Jura, Haute-Saône, Doubs and Territoire de Belfort.
This region lends itself splendidly to walking, cycling and fishing. River tourism is particularly well-developed in Haute-Saône. In winter, cross-country skiing is practiced even more than downhill skiing (at Ballon d'Alsace among others) and the Montbéliard Christmas Market has become an unmissable event. You can play a round of golf at Rougemont le Château (twelve minutes from Masevaux), discover the Citadel and Lion of Belfort, or even visit the Peugeot museum, and stroll around the Thousand Lake Plateau (Plateau des 1000 Étangs) and indulge at the Luxeuil thermal baths.
For a day trip, don't miss the Citadel of Besançon, Salins-les-Bains, Dino-Zoo, Le Gouffre du Poudrey cave and Le Saut du Doubs waterfall.
